Jan works with local models by default. Connect AskCodi for advanced reasoning and current knowledge. Use local models for privacy. Connect cloud models for complex tasks.

Prerequisites

• Jan installed from https://jan.ai
• AskCodi account with API key
• Internet connection
• Know which models you want to use

Your API key connects to multiple AskCodi models via OpenAI-compatible endpoint.

Step 1: Install Jan

1. Download Jan from https://jan.ai
2. Run installer
3. Launch Jan

Step 2: Open Settings

1. In Jan, click Settings in left sidebar
2. This opens settings panel

Step 3: Go to Model Providers

1. In settings, find "Model Providers" section
2. This manages AI service connections

Step 4: Add AskCodi Provider

1. Click "Add Provider"
2. Enter provider name: "AskCodi"

Step 5: Configure API Details

1. Enter AskCodi API URL:

https://api.askcodi.com/v1

Step 6: Add API Key

1. Find API key field for AskCodi provider
2. Enter your AskCodi API key
3. Keep key secure

Step 7: Fetch Models

1. Click refresh or fetch models button
2. Jan connects to AskCodi and retrieves available models
3. Models appear in Jan's model dropdown

Step 8: Test Integration

1. Close settings
2. Create new conversation
3. Check AskCodi models appear in dropdown
4. Start conversation with AskCodi model
