The agents run on your machine.
AskCodi Desktop puts Codi and its specialists on your own hardware, working in your repositories with your shell and your tools. It opens with no sign-in and no plan, and the models it talks to are yours to choose.
The download needs an AskCodi account, which is free to create. The app itself opens without signing in.
Free to install. Free to keep.
The app costs nothing and needs no plan. Bring your own CLI login or API key, or connect AskCodi credits as a model source.

Three things only a local app can do.
A browser sandbox cannot reach the environment your project actually builds in. This one can.
Your real toolchain
Agents run the same commands you do, against the versions installed on your machine, with the environment variables your project expects.
Parallel without collisions
Each specialist works in its own git worktree from the same parent commit, so four agents can build at once without touching your checkout.
Work stays on disk
Projects, runs and history live in a local database on your machine. Model calls go out; your repository does not.
Plan, delegate, build, review.
You can watch every phase as it happens, and stop it at any point.
Codi turns the brief into owned tasks.
It reads the repository, existing checks and project instructions, then gives each task an owner, dependency and acceptance check.
Each agent gets isolated work.
Specialists start from the same parent commit in separate git worktrees so parallel work cannot trample your current checkout.
Agents run the code, not just write it.
Every worker has scoped file access, a shell and approved tools. They execute the project’s real test commands and iterate on failures.
Codi reviews the work before you do.
Peer review catches issues, the full suite runs once more, and you receive one coherent result. Nothing merges without you.
The practical ones.
Everything else is on the Agency page or in the docs.
Do I have to sign in to use it?+
No. The download is tied to a free AskCodi account, but the app itself opens with no sign-in and no plan. Signing in exists for one reason: connecting the AskCodi gateway as a model source with its credit balance.
Is the desktop app a separate subscription?+
No, and there is no plan gate at all. The app costs nothing to install or run. If you connect AskCodi as a model source, that usage draws on the same balance as the rest of the platform. You can also bring your own CLI login or API key instead.
Does my code get uploaded?+
The repository stays on your disk. Agents read and write locally, and only the context a model needs for a given step leaves your machine as part of that request.
What about Intel Macs?+
The current build targets Apple Silicon. On an Intel Mac, use the web app for now.
When is Linux coming?+
It is next on the list. There is no date yet, and asking from inside the app is the fastest way to move it up.
Install it and point it at a repository.
Free account, free app, and you can stop it at any point.
